Subject: [E36M3] Re: 16" winter wheels & snow tires

To reiterate what I've said here before...

Pirelli Winter Ice in 215/45-R-17 has worked superlative from me. I put 7K miles on them last winter and they still look new.

Not going to be as good as P210s on the wet/dry, but when it gets cold, these things stick like glue. Only Q rated... 100Mph. I had them going 100 last winter on hard packed snow. Rock solid. I pushed snow over the hood one day when they hadn't plowed our road and I had to leave. Don't even own a set of chains. Drove in the worst of Alaska conditions. Kept waiting to get stuck... but it never happened.

ASC+T is amazing. Wife agrees... more stable and better traction than our front wheel drive Caravan with slightly worn studded Goodyears (second and last season on them).

The only other combination that I would concider is 16" steel wheels with Studded Nokian Hakkapeliittas.

If you live in the northern tier, Canada or Alaska, Winter Ice's are great.
