Subject: Re: Torque specs on E36 front strut
The front strut lower mounting bolts should be tightened to 58 ft. lbs
(80 Nm). Note that these bolts should be replaced with new
microencapsulated bolts if they are removed. (I suspect that a
thread-lock compound would also work.)
The upper mounting nuts should be torqued to 16-17 ft. lbs. (21-23 Nm).
These figures are from Chilton's maual # 8427 on the 1989 - 93 E36
repair manual.
