Michael,

You won't fix the understeer in an E36 M3 by fiddling with tire pressures..there is too much of it. If you want a "track" alignment vs. the standard factory spec alignment (which will help to some degree), take your M3 onto the alignment rack with a full tank of gas and have them set up the car with YOU in the seat. Have them adjust to ZERO toe both front and rear wheels.

To get the understeer out, you really have to rework the entire suspension and be willing to live with accelerated inside front tire wear. Be prepared for about $ 1,500 in parts and a day in the garage to do.
