1997 318ti "Sport"
My input for BMW "quality" Paint application quality is very poor, lots of
orange peel, thought it was just mine until I saw other 318tis, Paint
quality very poor, compared to my wifes 97 Toyota RAV4 paint quality and
application VERY poor, (both are black cars!!)
Found 3 of the wheels so corroded to their hubs that I had to use a pallet
knife to chisel between them to brake them apart (of course, it slipped and
scratched the rim, and of course that was my fault, guess BMW never headr
of anti-sieze compound)
Have had to have the car towed to the dealer on four occasions now, seems
the fuse in the ignition computer keeps blowing out, finally traced down to
a bare wire in the clock(?). Now have 11,000 miles on the car and 21 months
to go on the lease. Needless to say, it doesn't leave the city limits,
never know what else might brake.
Performance of the car very mediocre, I drive the car in Autocross, (D
stock), regurlarly gets beat by Neons, Sentras, etc, (not just hte driver,
we switch cards and the results are the same).
