Subject: Lubromoly Synthetics for MBW's

LUBROMOLY SYTHETIC OILS

It should now be clear to all that synthetic oils are generally the way to go with modern cars, not only in the engines, but also in the gear boxes, transmissions, and differentials.

I wanted to know what synthetic the Germans use in the BMW race cars, and was told that it was Lubromoly. BMP now carries the full line of Lubromoly lubricants, so I tried not only the engine oil, but also the synthetic gear oil. Although not cheap (neither are our engines and drivelines), the stuff really works well. I am on the track a lot, and used to have a serious foaming problem with my engine oil, which lead to the dreaded "valved clicking" that has freaked out every E36 owner since day one. By overfilling the resevoir by at least 1/2 quart, it stopped, but since I have been using Lubromoly, I haven't had the trouble even when I don't overfill. Although I still change the oil every 2500 miles, the oil seems to be absolutely like new when I change it. I wonder if you could get away with fewer oil changes with such a fine oil?

I have also put the Lubromoly Gear oil into my gear box and differential, and have been very pleased with the results. As many of you know, the "fix" for the notchy M3 gearbox has been to use Redline MTL in lieu of the factory gear oil. I think that the Lubromoly works even better than MTL. Again, not cheap, but neither are the gear boxes and differentials (where I put the Lubromoly as well).

Call BMP at 1-800-648-7278, or look up their Web site, http://www.BMPD.com have them send you some Lubromoly, and let the list know what you think.

regards,

Carl
