Subject: RE: E36 : Help fix squeaky clutch
I had the same problem with my E36 clutch pedal. It seems that the
combination of materials used make for a squeaky bearing surface. I
corrected the problem by removing the close out panel beneath the
instrument panel to access the clutch pivot. I the removed the pivot
pin that acts on the clutch master cylinder where the squeak was
originating from. With the pin removed I could properly clean it and
apply grease. I used a synthetic grease because I had it around and it
tends avoid drying up since it is less susceptible to evaporative
losses. This fixed the squeak and it has not returned in about four
months.
Good luck,
