I just had a dash separation on my '95 M3 repaired today. Maybe this is what you're talking about. The separation occurred at the top of the center vent, where the dash pulled away from the edge of the vent. BMW makes a repair kit that consists, I'm told, of a stiffener and some adhesive. The repair looks fine and the service writer told me that none of the ones they've done in the last 2 1/2 years or so have comve back. So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The part number is 51.45.8.211.883 (repair kit-dashboard). Can't tell you what it costs; this repair was a warranty item.
