There is an adjustment in the E36 doors that allows the tech to vary the angle of attack or side closure force of the windows. I've not done it myself, but I understand there are several ways to adjust the window fitment and have been told it's best to let the BMW techs do it. Too much pressure will tear the gasket and activate the safety features (window will not go all the way up), and too little will cause wind noise. Kind of a cruddy design on the car if you ask me....maybe they'll get something better on the next generation of the 3 coupe.
