Subject: RE: Aftermarket alarms & Double locking

No doubt the BECM is a complicated little unit. However as has been posted, double locking with aftermarket alarm is not so enigmatic. Perhaps it's changed for 96-97, but I know firsthand that on a 7/94 Production 94 E36 it's possible to double-lock w/ aftermarket alarm. My car has the 'simplified' dbl-lock. One turn of the key dbl-locks. No extra turn is necessary.

When you pulse both the lock and unlock wires at the same time the car gets double-locked. The wiring procedure using diodes has recently been posted to the digest. For example, using this method I can leave the window open on drivers side (open and close the door, it won't dbl-lock unless you do) and then trigger the lock on my remote. I can then pull up on the door lock plunger (it's a sedan) and it has no effect on opening the doors. Also I can insert ignition key and it won't start because the dbl-lock also disables fuel/ignition. Note that I didn't use the aftermarket alarms ignition kill, I rely only on the cars dbl-lock. If the ETM shows it there is no pin-out for ignition/starter kill because dbl-locking takes car of it.

ps. BTW does the BECM also control the windshield wipers???
