Subject: <E36> Those darn fog lights

Fellow digesterThanks
for all the help I so graciously received over the past few days about the continuing sagga of the E36 fog lamps. After talking to my dealer, he has decided that it is definitley a design problem inherant of all E36's. FWI, Evidently, BMWNA has sent notices out describing such a problem. While E36 fog lights work really well in the fog (according to manufactorer), the produce extremely hot lenses. Due to the low placement of the lamps, once rain water or casual water hits them they crack. If this happens immediatley tape up the problem lamp and return to the dealership (Do Not pass go, Do Not collect $200) and receive your new lamps under warranty. The tape will hold the lamp together and at the same time not fall victim to the un-warrantable rock chip phenomenon.
Thanks again for all the help- P.S. BUY CLEAR LAMP COVERS!
