Subject: U.S. v.s. Euro M3 Vanos
I had an opportunity to drive a 94 Euro M3 in Canada last year. And this
year, the U.S. version came about here also. In my opinion, there really
isn't much difference in performance. I have not driven them past 100 mph
for long times but I am sure the h.p. difference will be a factor. But
street acceleration is THE SAME! The difference is the SOUND! I was
astonished by how rough the engine sounded on the U.S. version compared to
the euro version. Please, no flame, I know that the U.S. version is much
cheaper and practical, and not that the U.S. version doesn't sound good.
But man, that infinite vanos and hand made quality is very noticeable!
