Subject: <E36> Where to get 95 E36 M3 engines
Ryan, after just having my M3 motor destroyed by an over-rev, I might
have some leads for you based on my research.
- Bekker's Import. 912-436-3999. Had a punched out (to 3.2 L) 95 M3
performance motor for $7K. Talk to Mark.
- Best Autoparts. 818-834-8881. $5K will get you a used M3 motor w/
15K miles on the clock. 90 day warrante. Talk to Greg. They wanted my
old engine as a core (destroyed as it was).
- Zionsville Autosport. 800-246-6377. They had two, one with 18K
miles, and another with 20K miles. $4500 w/ core. They also had a '97
3.2L M3 motor w/ 2900 miles for $7K w/ core. Don't know how much extra
these would be w/ out a core. Talk to Jason.
- If you fancy a brand new (rebuilt) factory engine, do what I did and
get one from Global Imports BMW - they're a BMW dealership who give deep
discounts on BMW parts. I paid $5100 + a $2K core = $7100 for mine. If
you have a core to give up, obviously it would only cost you $5100. This
motor has a BMW 12 month/ unlimited mileage warrante on it.
800-235-2987. Talk to Mike.
- Autoworks. 800-377-2520. Have one w/ 10K miles for $5K.
- AAA small car world. 800-433-3766. Have one for $6800. Unknown
miles.
That's about it. These were the best deals out of the many leads I
traced. I called just about every advertiser in the Roundel to
come up with this list. This info is only a few weeks old. What's funny
is that if you have a core to give up, the best deal is probably a new
engine from BMW! Don't know why junkyards are charging so damned much.
