Subject: Re: E36 muffler problems - grinding noise

I have the same thing on my 93 325is with the M3 (LTW) exhaust. But only on high G ( gee!) rught hand turns. I had looked all over for the cause. Looking for wear spots, shaking the car and suspension, with the car on a hoist. No luck. Well Digest to the rescue !! It seems this is the driveshaft rubbing on the exhaust if the exhaust has been mounted less than perfectly. I have yet to get mine back up in the air to fix it, but it's the best explanation I've had.
