Subject: More brake rotor retainer screw problems <E36>

Awhile back, I mentioned that there was a production run of Ribe 8x16mm rotor/drum retainer screws manufactured with the wrong thread pitch. Forced installation of these screws would surely cause major problems the next time the rotors were to be removed. Thread pitch should be 8x1.25mm, not 8x1.0mm. BMW went to a different allen head retainer screw (34211161806) with the E36 models and it now appears that Ribe has again produced a run with the wrong thread pitch. If you've picked up a set of these screws from a dealer or local parts house, check the thread pitch before starting the job. With any of these screws, put a small amount of high temp anti-seize compound on the threads before installing them.
