Subject: E36 M3 Brake Line Upgrade + Funny quote from Ford dealer
Last weekend I finished putting the Teflon / Kevlar braided brake lines on my
M3.
I was amazed by the difference ! The brakes were so much different, I thought
I screwed up something .
(Track junkies are propably laughing at me know, but hey there's always a
first time for everything.)
Brakes feel linear and progressive right from the instant you apply
pressure.
IMHO the M3 should have come like that from the factory. Especially since
these are DOT approved.
The stock brake lines looked like the best OEM brake lines I have ever
seen. The rubber on the M3 OEM lines is bulletproof.
My friend with his 97 Ford Cobra was helping me out, and we took a look at
his OEM brake lines. They were as soft as garden hose ! My buddy was
embarrased.
Like Pat Donahue mentioned a couple of digests ago, the M3 and other Bimmers
are the best combinations of power , handling, class, ergonomics and
functionality.
Here's the funny quote. After some track time last weekend, my friends'
Cobra ate through another serpentine (accessories) belt. Although the Ford
dealer admitted that Ford has a memo out on this problem, he said "this is
the last time we will replace the belt free. I would suggest not to rev up
the car and drive by the speed limits. If you want to take the car on the
track, I 'd suggest buying an M3"
The dealer had no idea, I owned one, it was he personal opinion but still
very interesting.

Vlasis
