Subject: Brakeline line installation

Hi Joe,

I am not sure which vendor I got them from. Its one of the Roundel ones (either NOPI or Eurasian).
Anyway call all of the Roundel vendors (800 #s) and ask for the Kevlar / Teflon brake lines that are DOT approved.

Front and rear is around $80 for the kevlar (DOT approved) and $60 for the good-ol-regular steel braided (not DOT approved).

The Kevlar ones are aircraft quality and expand 10X s less than regular steelbraided lines.

Installation is very easy once you figure out how to take them out. Here's the sanity-saving tip to use when removing the old ones:

Front brake hoses:
Note that the hoses are hard to unscrew or rotate since both ends of the hose are torqued. Solution:

The top end of the hose (the one that attaches to the copper brake line) can be unscrewed / removed without twisting the old brake hose. Start (again we are on the top end of the hose) by turning the nut that is attached to the copper brake line AND the nut that is attached to the old brake hose . If the nuts are stuck, cut the hose and try again. Just make sure you are not tweasting the copper brake line .

Once you get the top side off the brake hose, put a wrench on the brake hose nut that is attached to the caliper.
That will come off easily.

Installation is the reverse.

Its kinda messy, since the copper brake lines bleed when you remove the hoses. No major spills just lots of brake fluid drops.

person hours:
Remove the wheels : I have antiseize everywhere so they are easy to pop out: 10-20min
Once you remove the wheels, it takes 20-30 minutes to install the hoses (per corner).
If you start from the rear you can also bleed each caliper after installing each hose.

Hope this helps
Vlasis
