Subject: E34 door panel R&R
To remove the door panel, remove the tweeter from the front corner, there is
either a tiny screw in the bottom, or the grille simply pops off, once off
there is a screw behind the grille that allows you to remove the tweeter.
Remove the mirror switch, there is a screw behind it.
There are no screws in the armrest, it is attached to the door panel. There
may be a screw behind a plastic cover in the inner door handle recess.
Pop out the panel clips all around the door panel, and then, with the window
open, and your head through the window, give the panel an enormous tug
straight up.
It should come free. Now have a look at the back of the panel and you will
see a metal clip in the centre of the panel with a black plastic square
attached to it, remove the plastic piece from the panel and insert it in the
slot in the door. When installing the panel, ensure that the outer cable
for the inner door handle is correctly seated in the bracket and then
located the panel so the metal clip is lined up with the plastic square and
slap the centre of the panel to engage the clip. Then go around and engage
the outer clips.
