Subject: Rear Subframe Bushings

I had mentioned earlier that the shop time to do this job can be as high as 7 hours since many shops without the special tools have to remove the subframe and press the new bushings in on their shop press. Removal of the old bushings can be accomplished with an air chisel or sawzall but getting the new ones in is very difficult without the tools. I sell the factory installation tools to my parts customers at just over cost...price for the E28/E24/E23 tools is $180.00, the E30 tool set runs $175.00 and the E36/E32/E34 set is $295.00. Someone posted that these tools can also be used for the rear wheel bearings but the BMW fiche clearly calls for a different set. I don't have the wheel bearing tool at this point to know what the differences are. SD
