Hi,
The upper rubber shockmount in the rear is very prone to breakage. At least the original ones on the '84 and '85's. These are less than $50 at the dealer. Make the car handle worlds better also.

How can you tell if that's the problem? If there are holes in the trunk lining above the shock, that's one sign. Pull back the lining and bounce the rear up and down, the top of the shock should NOT move, if it does, new bushing time.
