1986 325e AT LSD maintenance experience, FWIW.
Purchased new in 1986. KIA at 180,000+ miles, 9 years old.
Routine oil, brake, coolant, service not listed, nor cosmetic stuff.
1 sticky window switch under warranty, 2K
1 set rotors under warranty, 25K
2 sets german aftermarket rotors thereafter, 100K, 170K
1 wheel bearing under warranty, 30K
Coolant level sensor, 70K
SI batteries replaced, 80K
alternator repair at 90K
2 water pumps, 105K (105K failure, 160K preventative. Recommend
replacement at belt change)
timing belts at 50K, 100K, 160K (100K w/o water pump - big mistake)
oil pressure sensor (leaked) 120K
battery, 140K (7 years)
exhaust, 140K
drive shaft center bearing, 150K
fan clutch, 160K
antenna mast, twice
casette (OEM radio) drive belts replaced, 120K
shocks, two sets (Boge) 70K, 140K
I think this is pretty darn reliable, and a great drive too!
