Subject: RE: Locking Problems

Hi All,
I too had the locking problems on my 88 325is. The double locking mechanism was almost impossible to turn. I tried different lubes but i couldn't get it to free up.
The first sign you're lock is about to go always occurs during a rampant thunderstorm and you're trying to get inside! Well, here's what worked for me. Go to your local PET store and purchase a can of "OSTER KOOL LUBE" (clipper blade coolant and lubricant). Replace the nozzle with one from a WD40 aerosol. Stick the nozzle in the keyhole and dont stop spraying until the fluid starts to run clear, you will see it dripping black profusely from the bottom of your door, providing of course the drain hole is clear. Then, work your key back and forth (lock to unlock) until it frees up just like new!. You may however find that because of the cooling the Kool Lube does to the lock, you'll have to wait a bit until the lock warms up. The KL has great lubricating ability, so don't gum up your locks with anything else....
