Subject: <E30 and others> toggle switch for high speed fan

With all the talk about electrical mods, I might as well share a really useful one for those folks lucky enough to live in the South (or anywhere else with HOT summers).

I noticed that the 2 speed electric fan only ran in "low" on my 87 325is. Only after a thermostat failure did the car run hot enough to engage "high". We suffer regularly with hot, humid summers in South Mississippi. The A/C works very hard all summer and struggles when idling or putting around in traffic. I installed a small toggle switch in the panel over the drivers right knee. The switch is wired in at the temp sensor on the top/left side of radiator. So, now when it is really hot, I just flip the switch. This drops the temp ~5 to ~10 degrees when idling or putting around and cools the cockpit much faster. The only caveat is remembering to turn it off when cruising on the big road.

Good luck,
