Ted,

Are these adjusted prior to installing rotors? sorta; adjust them so that the rotor fits over the parking brake shoes with out rubbing. Final adjusting after everything is buttoned up (except for the center cap and one wheel bolt).

Can they be adjusted once rotors are installed? Yes

Are they automatic adjusting? No

The only thing necessary to remove for adjusting the rear disc parking brake is the center cap and one wheel bolt from each side. With the rear end of the vehicle up on jack stands, use a screwdriver to tighten/loosen the adjuster through the vacant wheel bolt opening on each side.

If I remember correctly;
Place a screwdriver on the adjuster star wheel. The LR side is tightened by pulling DOWN on the screwdriver handle. The RR side is tightened by pulling UP on the screwdriver handle.

If my memory is wrong; it would be:
The LR side is tightened by pulling UP on the screwdriver handle. The RR side is tightened by pulling DOWN on the screwdriver handle.

Another way to think about it is: the star wheel adjusters are right hand threaded which means righty/tighty, lefty/loosy. :-)
