Subject: Brake Bleeders

I purchased the Imparts brake bleeder several years ago...it turned out to be a Mityvac vacuum pump with a bottle and some tubing to suck the fluid past the bleeder valve. It didn't work very well and I gave it away. Unfortunately, unless you have an air compressor or spend big bucks on a German "Sterious" bleeder with electric pump, there are not too many options besides manually bleeding. However, Assenmacher Specialty Tools in Boulder, Colorado has a reservoir cap adapter (TA18) that takes a male air fitting and allows for pressurizing the brake system with anything from a bicycle pump or Stant cooling system pressure pump to a shop air compressor. By pressurizing the system (try to stay under 25psi), you can open the bleeder valves and force the old fluid out of each of the lines. Make sure to keep an eye on the reservoir level....you don't want to pump air into the system. {I've seen people use an old reservoir cap with the air fitting epoxied into the center...worked fine but took a little longer to bleed the system due to lower working pressures} SD Steve D'Gerolamo c/o The Parts Co-op (201-262-0412)
