Subject: <SUMMARY><e28><524td>Re: What's a 524td
To: BMW Mailing List <bmw-digest_at_mailgate.wizvax.net>

A couple days ago I asked this list if I was imagining the e28 524td I saw in Connecticut (US) the other day.

Thanks to the following who responded both on & off the list:

Chris Blumenthal <chris_at_wallaby.corp.sgi.com> John Ackerman <jda2_at_cec.wustl.edu>
Dale Beuning <dale_at_unofficialbmw.com>
Harold Miller <peabody_at_magick.net>
andrew.j.thomas_at_ac.com
"Francisco Vidal Jr." <vidalfamily_at_earthlink.net>

Model Years: (US) 1984 (?),1985,1986 (Europe) Until 1992 Description:

        Automatic only
        Cloth Seats
        Electric "everything" including sunroof
        ABS (86 only)

        basically a vanilla e28 + diesel engine
(only came one way, no options (?))

The engine was also possibly used in some Lincoln/ Mercurys

Web sites devoted to 524td : check out Harold Miller's at:

http://www.nw.net/bmw-td

        2.4l six-cylinder, 115 bhp turbocharged e28
        replaced by the (e34?) 525td and 525tds

Hope this info is useful :-)
