Subject: E28 Driveshaft Replacement

Bob,

With regard to the below-mentioned driveline problem, I went through Driveline Service of Portland (OR). If I remember correctly, their new shaft was about $300, and has greaseable/replaceable U-joints. My dealer was familiar with them and has had good results with their product. Since a new dealer-supplied shaft was about twice this amount, the decision was a no-brainer. They can be reached at 800.227.8608. Good luck, usual disclaimers.

Anybody been through this before, or have an idea how many hours or dollars a good shop might charge for replacing a 535i driveshaft? I've seen ads in Roundel and elsewhere for for rebuilt units, so I know that the driveshaft itself will be about $500 (?), but I'd really like some idea as to what to expect for labor. My experience has been it's quite helpful to have an idea as to customary pricing _before_you stroll into the repair facility. :)

TIA,

                Bob D.
