In the Sept 15 issue of Business Week (page 95), they have an article about a Germany's largest car rental company named SIXT, which is "leaving Hertz and Avis in the dust".

>From the article, one can surmise that they routinely rent out Mercedes and
BMW cars (even the SLK's!), among luxury makes. As of the this time, it seems that they still have a reservation-sharing alliance with Budget Rent-a-Car, although it is starting to unravel.
