Subject: Re: <MISC> CB in BMW - Good Antenna

Pat (and others who are interested),

I personally use (and have been using for the past 13 years) a K40
antenna. It's possibly the best CB antenna on the market for the 500
watt and under crowd. I'm speaking of the 4.5 foot metal whip style
that is a clip mount. Add to this the optional magnet (good up to 190
MPH) and you have a great temporary setup...actually I can personally
verify that this thing stays put at over 130 (while resting on a piece
of felt...wouldn't want to scar the "baby's" paint). The K40 is
expensive, about $75 for the antenna and about $30 for the magnet. The
K40 CB isn't too bad either (I have a Cobra).

Notes on CB antennas in general:

SWR (Standing Wave Ratio) needs to be tuned for every antenna on every
car. DO NOT TUNE the SWR with and meter built into your CB, have the
car doors closed and be away from any building (read: don't do this
with the car parked in the garage). Actually cheap antenna's will work
     respectably when properly tuned!!!
