Subject: <all> bent wheels
"seystroy_at_pwrtc.com" asked about repairing a bent iX wheel. I just had
that done at Wheel Collision Center, the ones used by R & T for the 5
wheels they bent during their E36 M3 long test. (youch! 5 wheels!)

You ship the wheel or wheels to them ($20 for me.) Within 24 hours they
call you with repair costs: In my case, $85 for "repair only" and $140 for
"repair and refinish." Add another $20 for return shipping. They won't
start repairs until you specifically approve them.

I had the "repair only", thinking to save $55 and repaint myself... my
mistake. Turns out the "refinish" also includes any cosmetic repair (curb
rash, scratches, etc.) The "repair only" turns out to be just what
mechanical/structural repairs are needed to make the wheel usable and safe.
They didn't explain that, and I didn't know the right questions to ask.

The work I had done was very nicely done. They test and certify the
process and the wheel you get back. Service was excellent. Price might be
high; the other big competitor (Wheels America?) advertises any alloy wheel
redone for $95 and I think they also cover return shipping, so I might try
them next time. No affiliation with either company, YMMV, caveat emptor,
     etc.

     Mike
