Subject: Detail Q's
John,
Everyone has their favorites...you'll get a jillion opinions - here's mine:
>1) I am using Zymol leather products, and am very pleased with the results.
>However, I have noticed that Lexol (?) seems to be more popular. Does
anyone have a
>preference?
Leathermaster products (800) 300-2359 put 'em all to shame. Get the
Protection and Cleaner kit. Lexox is overrated.
3) What is the best spray on wheel cleaner for the double-spoke m3 wheels?
>I tried the Castrol product with poor results. Should I just break down
and scrub
>the damn things with a toothbrush to get in between the spokes.
SOAP & WATER!!!! Really! Make sure you keep a coat of wax on the wheels and
the brake dust will not bond to the wheel. There is NOTHING you can squirt
on your wheels that beats soap and water. Would you use that toothbrush on
your hood <!YIKES!>....didn't think so...don't use it on your wheels
either, it will scratch the clearcoat.
>4) What is the best bug/tar remover?
Plain ole Mineral Spirits (Cheap..and Cheap is Good). Everything out there
is merely scented Mineral Spirits so why pay the extra money to avoid the
smell?
>6) Is Mother's the best wax for very high temp applications?
I've been REAL happy with Blitz One Grand (that I got from Steve D'G _at_ The
Ultimate Garage). Better staying power than Zymol..less $$$ and does a
nice job. Mother's is decent, too.
