Subject: Extending Track Pad Life

Bob is correct about the Hawks. The Blues used to be the standard, but most (including me) who used them had excessive rotor wear. My rotor wear remains, however, and is a fact of track life.

But, I think that my increased rotor life comes from a combination of NOT ONLY using Peformance Friction pads, but also: Brake Ducting, drilled/slotted/or Motorsport rotors, and more judicious use of my brakes. This final point, careful use of the brakes, is important. I don't charge hard every lap, but rather let things cool off every couple of laps. Also, if there is a particular corner that takes brutal braking, like, for example, turn 2 at Laguna Seca, I will, every few laps, back off WAY back in the approaching straightaway, and just "coast" (all things relative) into turn 2, so the brakes can get a brake. Finally, I let the brakes cool completely before coming in off the track. Sometimes I will even drive around the paddock or outlying roads for a few minutes before parking.

All this said, I think that the PF 90's have considerably added to my braking ability and longevity.
