It's a classic E12/E28 electrical problem. When the brake lights come on, the voltage on that circuit dips enough to cause the radio to 'reset'. It's worse for certain radios (my Sony did that) and for loose fuses or other connections.

You can try cleaning the fuse contacts and installing a new fuse. If that doesn't work, you can install a relay: wire the coil between ground and the radio lead from the ignition switch. Connect one side of the normally open contacts to the radio power lead and the other side to a stiff 12-volt source, such as the cigarette lighter supply.
