Some more trivia about the new E46 3er seen in Geneva...

• - the power seat versions will have three position memory
• - upper seat belt attachment will have manually adjustable height
• - the MPG meter pivots from bottom in the Tach face and IMHO doesn't look nearly as nice as the older style.
• - Introduction of direct injection diesel engine in the 320d. This model has a Roundel inside the engine compartement on the fan cover.
• - high mounted center brake light is on upper edge of rear window and is LED display.
• - Body is much stiffer than E36.
• - An extra button on outside power mirror controls, folds the entire mirror housing towards the side glass. Useful for tight Euro parking places.
• - side and head impact airbags like the current 5er and 7ers
• - no cup holders

Theme of the BMW display this year was "Sustance et Passion" which is easy to translate from the French.

• - Cigar fumoir mounted in rear armrest of 750iL that is temperature controlled.
• - in same car as above, wood trim made with same kind of wood pipes are made of.
• - tables that fold out like in business class airline seats, for the rear passenagers.
• - TV with VCR and AM/FM radio controls all for rear passenagers.
• - BMW Individual accessories are not generally available in the US because of different marketing styles. However, I was told that if you push your dealer and BMW NA hard enough, arrangements can be made.
