BMW will introduce the much talked-about M5, and unlike the Mercs, will have a real transmission. However, it seems the launch date has been pushed back due to high development costs from tweaking the 4.4L V8 with double VANOS etc.
The E46 M3 will have a 4.4L V8 as well, but it won't debut until late 1999 or even 2000. Well, sigh of relief from someone who feels challenged in the puny 3.2L six :)
