I may have had you answer this before in a thread, but I have the resister that does not have the screws on either side. A wire runs into it and out of it. Apparently there are two types. I am trying to remember who told me, but I have to stay with the same type resistor (the fan runs by the way). It is rectangular and white in color. On pellican parts I see one that is black and has wires already attached. Should I go with this one?
BWT, I also checked the coolant sensor and I have a 12-13v output from one of the three leads or wires.

Yes, you have to get the same resistor type.
Unfortunately, the one you have is the hard wired version, so it has to be soldered in. My problem was, that the fastening screws were so badly rusted, that it was impossible to remove them without damaging the resistor. My fan was dead as well, so I just replaced the whole fan with a new(used) one.
I didn't think it was possible, but the car actually runs better, if only slightly. _________________ Lachssilber Metallic 203 1988 325i sedan with 200,xxx miles
