| Every time I go over a bump, or over a lot of little bumps, my car rattles and thumps, in the right/rear area... I know it is not the rear shock,anything, or any loose obhects. I have heard others have this problem, it is an 88 325i conv. Any Help would be nice :) |

| I had the same problem. It turned out to be a torn upper shock mount bushing. The top of the shock was free to move around maybe 1/8 of an inch and caused a bunch of noise whenever I went over a bump. |

I have the same noise and have changed the shock mounts.....but it's still there. It's not the rear parcel shelf or seat belts...I've taken them out as well.
I believe it is the shocks. It sounds like a banging boot lid and comes and goes.
Any one have any suggestions |

There are 3 bolts that attach your top. Two are verticle to hold the top down, the third goes forward to position the top correctly. The front/back bolt normally has a couple shims in it for spacing. If that bolt is loose, the shims are somewhere in the frame bouncing around. Long shot, but something else to check. Good luck
