I was out having some "fun" on the weekend at a mate's property and I noticed a few things. Firstly, when I spun the rear wheels, both wheels would spin (every time).

How can I tell (Where can I find out) whether my car has a LSD.

(E30 88 4 door 320i - 6 cyl)

Jack up both back wheels. Gear box in Neutral. Hand spin one of the back wheels. If the other turns in the same direction you have LS. Opposite direction is a normal differential.

Spinning your tires on the ground doesn't mean anything. Get under the car and look at the tag on the differential. If it says SX.XX, then you have and LSD. If it just says X.XX, then you have an open diff. It's easier than jacking it up.
