Got my car back running after wreck. several issues still to be resolved.
with the trunk lid still somewhat warped although now able to be opened
and locked, one problem may be that since it still does not close tightly the battery is running down with the trunk light always on.
2 questions.
1) If I remove the trunk light bulb, will that prevent the power loss?
2) How can I tell if the trunk light is on with the trunk closed?
.
.
Also one last question.
anyone have a good source for used trunk lids?

As far as the trunk lids are comcerned, check eBay and gather the names and numbers of the big parters... EuroDepot etc., and check with them on the phone.
If the power drain is indeed coming from the trunk light, removing hte bulb will kill the circuit and should stop the loss... _________________ Cosmo - 1985 BMW 325e, Single Owner, 265,000+ ORIGINAL miles and still going strong! Thanks.
I think I have a line on a trunk lid from a junkyard.
I'll find out more by next week.

An easy way to check if tail light is on, pull the trunk-side tail light cover, and you may be able to see the light through the tail light, if not, 4 or 6 small 8mm nuts and the outer tail light cover pops off and you'll be able to easily see it.
Look for a salvage yard with German cars. The trunk lids are rarely damaged, so if you can find an E30 in a yard, you should be able to find the trunk lid. I have 2 or 3 extra kicking around, but I won't ship something like this.
