Hi all, I got a 1996 BMW 318i with 263,000 kms. Was running ok til about a week ago. The car has begun to give a rough idle, but smooths out when I accelerate away. My Check Engine light then came on so I put my PEEK code reader on and it came back with the following codes 07-16-3E-32-34-35. I lost the manual...Can anyone out there decode what this is supposed to mean ?? ...
Also, there is an odor of exhaust fumes that gets into the cabin when I am at a stand still. Seems to go away when I accelerate away. Can't see any holes anywhere in the exhaust but I can't get a perfect look yet.. Any help would be appreciated |

OK.. looks like I had a lot of peple reading this post but no suggestions...
Anyway I solved the problem. Becuase of the odor of Exhuast fumes I decided to check thoroughly all the exhaust lines. All were fine. Then I checked as many vacuum hoses around the engine and I found one that had broken off. It was the Crankcase Vent tube which is located on the the valve cover towards the firewall end. Once I reattached it the car ran smoothly again and I extinguished the Check Engine light and it still running fine. |
