Holding the catalytic converter onto the exhaust manifold are four bolts and four nuts. Two of the bolts are screwed into the manifold, so not easily replaceable... and I'm really hoping I won't have to replace them. But I do live in northern Ohio, so due to rust, I'll be replacing the other two bolts and all four nuts. (I'm replacing everything on the exhaust system from after the exhaust manifold.)
The local dealer wants $35 each for these bolts! The four nuts are "only" $2.24 a piece. Why are these so expensive?? I've tried four online places who sell BMW parts and haven't found one yet that carries these particular bolts and nuts. Anyone know a place that sells them for a reasonable price? Or what's so special about them...? are they handmade by cosmic virgins or what??? |
