Took a test run on a 535i. Pulling out from a stop with the auto trans, this bimmer feels so different from an American car. It almost feels sluggish unless you really hit the gas. Is that the way they are? My stick bimmer has guts from the get go but I remember driving a Mercedes once and I got the same impression. The auto trans Mercedes felt sluggish pulling out too. Once it gets going that sluggish feeling is gone and it feels responsive or if you really hit the pedal but just pulling out with a light foot feels...sluggish.
Is that the way these bimmers are with auto trans? Other than that, I liked it but a 535i sure is not a 318i. The more I drive it, the more I'm liking it but reluctant to give up my e30... |

I just discovered what that switch is next to the shifter on the console. It seems to be a shift selector switch for how the trans shifts. Something about manual or automatic. I wonder if by me putting it in D, I was pulling out in higher gear?
Anybody can explain that switch to me? I think it had an "A" and not sure about the other letter but could have been an "M"? Not sure though... |
