Can anyone give me the specific location (pin numbers, wire colors, etc.) of the transmission temperature sensor wires at the TCM? Also, where is the TCM physically located? _________________ 1998 528i |

There's no temp sensor on a manual, only an auto. _________________

Yes, it is an automatic. The temperature sensor is not working properly, but it is not replaceable on my model (made into the wiring harness inside the transmission). If I could determine which wires from the sensor feed into the TCM I could correct the problem. Also, do you know exactly where the TCM is located? I know it is somewhere in the engine compartment on the right side underneath the cabin filter. _________________ 1998 528i |

The E39 TCM is the additional board in the DME box, under the right side filter. I believe it's the rear board, but not sure.
Since the car can be had with stick or auto, BMW separated the functions, not like the 7-series, which is only available with an auto. That car has the engine and trans functions on the same board. _________________
