I've noticed recent momentary misfiring on cold startup of my BMW. It sounds like one cylinder not firing and usually resolves within 20 seconds. I removed all the plugs that showed normal looking but excessive deposits perhaps due to ethanol here in Idaho, then cleaned, regapped and reinstalled them. The misfire disappeared for 4 days and has recurred. These plugs plus points and distributor cap have 8 thousand miles since installation. I'd appreciate guidance on what's my next step. |

Are you sure you do not have water in one cylinder? Stop the car before the idling is regular (say 10 secs) and inspect the plugs. _________________

What kind of "excessive deposits"? Ethanol doesn't cause deposits.
What are the compression readings? How much oil do you use between changes?
When did you last replace the spark plug wires? _________________
