I am driving 1998 540i auto. After a visit to my local dealer the dash lights for my indicators and the reporting info on the OBC went dead. later my radio ceased to work (subsequently started again) now my head lights blink on and off and tail light configuration has altered and also blinks. i have to drive with light on as then they only blink off at intervals. If applying brakes and indicators lights blink off at approx 7 second intervals if just driving blink off at much longer intervals, but regular at about 18secs.
Can anyone hep as dealer says just fit all new controllers and the cost of this is just out of reach. Mad

Bill

Pull the right side visor down, and turn on the vanity light. Does this help induce these seemingly unconnected events? If so, replace the ignition switch.

In your country, you may have do it with the left side visor (right-hand drive?); I'm not sure.

Hi edjack I have tried that once but I admit only very briefly, but there doesn't seem to be any effect at all. I will try this again and make very sure. You seem to be a real mine of information and help to all on the forum so thanks a million for your kind assistance to us less equiped ones. I will report back again after checking. Yes our cars are right hand drive so I will check with left side visor.
