Hi, Please could anbody tell me why my inspection light has come on so quick after i had all 5 geen lights lit after i had it reset less than a 1000 miles ago ? { i had it reset at my local garage not BMW dealer} also when the service lights where re-set the odo diplay went dimm and it is quite hard to see the milege now. Also my handbrake light comes on with the ignition and then goes out but when i apply the handbrake with the engine running the light does not come on . I really love the car and would like to clear these faults but have no idea off one end off a spanner than the other

welcome to the board

there are 2 sets of lights on your car, 1 for the inspection, and the other for an oil change.

maybe your mechanic only reset the oil change lights? and now your inspection warning lights have now come due?

I think that is a great idea.

make sure you get the reset tool, as well as the code reader.
http://www.peakeresearch.com/code_tool.htm

this really is a must have tool for all BMW owners, it allows you know diagnose many problems and either preventing a trip to the dealer, or at least proving you with the knowledge you need when going to a dealer.

check on eBay, often you can find them cheaper than from a retail outfit.
