I'm going to set my valve clearance on the '85 635CSi; there is a gap at the front of the sealant where the book says I must use some RTV. Before I open her up, is there something I need to know, or an item I need to close this gap?

The gap is from two mating surfaces at the front of the head, as I remember, between the head and the front cover. Clean off the old RTV and apply a thin coat. I use Permatex Gray. Don't slather it on.
Check the two banjo bolts on the oiler pipe. They loosen up.
When you go to the dealer to get the gasket, get the new bolts, which have a Nylok insert to keep them from loosening up. They are identified by a concentric circle stamped into the head of the bolt. _________________

Good God, edjack! Are you just sitting there waiting for me to post a question? If you aren't, I'd like to thank you for being there under any condition! Your answer has cleared it up for me, and I'll get the Nylock bolts before I go in. Thanks

Just happened to be at the computer...
BTW, my E12 had an M30 engine, so I'm quite familiar with them. _________________
