Hello all...I am having a problem with the OBC fault alarm. I get an occasional 'Brake circuit failure'. I have checked all connections, fuses and bulbs and all seems OK...can anyone here offer any help? Is there something else I might check before I take it in to the stealer? Since the alarm is pretty intemittant it seems like a connection issue but all connections are tight and clean!!

Possible that the brake light switch is going bad; I've heard of this before.
Only real way to determine is to get the stored code read, and the dealer, or a well-equipped indie, is the only place to get it read. _________________

This is a common problem. Typically the problem is the brake switch. But sometimes replacing it doesn't seem to reslove the problem. My '99 M3 goes through cycles. The warning light will come on more and more frequently until it is lighting every time I drive the car. then tha problem resolves for several weeks and starts all over again. I've decided to just live with it. The brake switch is a real PITA to replace.
There is a lengthy thread about this problem on the e36 M3 board. It was a very active thread just about a year ago. _________________ |
