|

I have an 85 325e that was broken into and the cd/receiver was taken, with some damage to the dash. Since then, the odometer, trip meter, and cruise control don't work; however, the speedometer is fine. Any ideas?
Thanks |

A possibility is a blown fuse or relay. You could check all your fuses and relays first.
If they're all fine then the odometer's gears may have cracked and fell apart with age. The jarring it got from the thieves pulling your stereo, likely was enough to cause the gears to crumble.
There's good instructions in bentley for removing the instrument cluster.
Not difficult at all, takes about 15 minutes to a half hour.
You can buy replacement gears from www.bavauto.com or www. pelicanparts.com
A little pricey, but neccessary. The alternative is to replace the odometer with a new/used one. They available on ebay all the time.
Could also be a plug got pulled loose during theft. Either way, you'll need to remove cluster for inspection. _________________ Lachssilber Metallic 203 1988 325i sedan with 200,xxx miles
