Here in the Bahamas there are no BMW suppliers to order a replacement actuator from. Is it possible to open my the trunk actuator and repair it myself or am I just wasting my time? |

Import tax in the Bahamas is 75% on car parts, so it will be a relatively expensive and lengthy venture to have one shipped in. I guess I can wait until I visit the U.S. again and pick one up from a dealership. |

You're probably going to have to disassemble the latch mechanism to see what's broken. _________________

Yep. Opened it up and say what was broken inside - a screw-like rod which feeds the locking mechanism. I tried glue it with an industrial adhesive, but it broken again after two trunk-openings. I will wait until I'm in the States again to pick up one. In the mean time, I will have to completely remove the guts from within the actuator. The actuator needs to be in place and plugged in for the trunk light to work and if the mechanisms are still on the inside, the actuator gets stuck in the open position and the trunk will not close securely - no matter how hard you slam it shut. |

Sounds like a good application for a bungie cord! _________________
