Hi,
I have learned that the check engine light in my car has come back on within a week of resetting since the car had 20k miles on it.
This phenomena has stumped the dealer where the car was sold as well as another dealer in my area. I have 2 dealers within a 15 mile radius from home. Wagner Motors in Shrewsbury, MA and Foreign Motors West, Natick, MA.
I have had it reset 3 times after diagnosing. I requested the service records from the selling dealer and found that this dilema has existed since the car was new.
I can't believe that both dealers are giving me the runaround.
Am I dreaming or is this a real possibility with my car?
My first reaction is to find a dealer who knows what they are doing.

That's insane! Both dealers should have addressed the trouble code(s) that was (were) set, in order that the CE light lit up.
I would second your first reaction. However, intermittent faults are very costly to run down, especially if you are paying someone else to do it.
The stored codes should lead a good tech to the solution. One problem is that, once a tech gets good, he goes to work for an indie.
If there are no stored or pending codes, there may very well not be a problem. _________________

Thank you,
I need to get into this deeper and possibly get a diagnostic tool and do it myself.
I may not be able to fix it myself but I will learn more.

I have an AutoXray EZ Scan 6000. It's good for reading P-codes, and you can get cables for non-OBDII cars.
Take a look at this one, too. It appears to be very comprehensive, but you get to supply the laptop. Based on the fact that you own a very complex car, you should take a hard look at this one. It has add-on modules that can apparently interrogate other systems in the car.
